Satisfied Customer Testimonials

May 18, 2012

How do you find a porcelain refinisher in DFW? You could start by asking your friends and family members who they recommend. These satisfied customers refer Striking Image Porcelain Refinishing:

“The process was painless. Thanks for being here when you said you would, for being professional, for the thorough clean up, for your attention to detail, for the after-care instructions, and for the beautiful tub.’” –Bob Hayden

“Thank you so much for doing an amazing work on my old, beat-up bath tub. The bathtub you repaired and refinished looks just like new. I mean that it’s shinier than a brand new one. I can’t believe that is the same bath tub I had with two half-dollar sized, rusted holes on it.” –Chae

“Your magic in removing the chemical stains from the stainless steel sink was impressive. In all three locations, it’s like the damage was never there. You do great work!” –Mike McKellop

Replacing vs. Repairing your Bathtub

April 13, 2012

If your bathtub is worn or damaged, you may think you need to replace it. However, Chris Duty wants to encourage you to consider a simpler option with less mess and fewer costs. We’re talking about bathtub refinishing.

Replacing your bathtub requires a lot of time and stress. To replace an old bathtub, you must go through a demolition. You have to remove old tile and fixtures, tear out drywall, and arrange for new plumbing. You may be only replacing your tub, but it’s likely that the messy renovation will make your entire bathroom unusable. All this construction can take weeks and provide a huge inconvenience. You’ll not only have to use other bathrooms during this time, but the destruction can also be loud and irritating for your houseguests. Refinishing, however, is much simpler and cleaner. You won’t have to rip out surfaces or throw messy pieces all over your house. In addition, porcelain refinishing can be completed in just a few days. It takes about 48 hours for your surfaces to harden, but after that your bathtub will be ready for use. Chris also uses fans to help reduce the odor from the refinishing process, which helps decrease the discomfort in your home.

Taking Care of Refinished Surfaces

April 6, 2012

After Striking Image refinishes your bathtub, the material needs time to dry. Chris Duty recommends avoiding using your refinished surface for at least 24 hours after the application. Even if it’s been years since your remodel, it’s important to take care of your surfaces to avoid damage. Follow these care instructions to prevent ruining your refinished bathtub or shower.

Keep your surface clean and shiny

Abrasive cleaners are very acidic and can wear away the outer coating on your tub. This will leave a rough surface that can trap dirt and oil. In addition, bleach can discolor a colored porcelain texture. Simple Green, Fantastic, Dow, Mr. Clean, and Lysol Tub and Tile Foam are all approvable cleaners that will leave your tub shiny and smooth.

Avoid using rough scrubbers

When cleaning your tub, avoid using a scrub pad or anything with rough bumps and bristles. Scrubbing your surfaces can scratch the coating and create a coarse texture. Instead, clean your bathtub with a soft rag, and wipe it down with a towel after every use.

Porcelain refinishing is less expensive than overhauling a kitchen or bathroom. Since we are not replacing sinks and tubs, your overall cost is drastically reduced. Modernizing and restoring bathrooms with refinishing methods is also less time consuming than a total overhaul. We repair discoloration from rust and mold along with concealing chips and cracks.

Can you refinish an antique bathtub?

Yes, we can! In fact, this is one of our specialties. Antique bathtubs are a wonderful focal point for your bathroom. Their style is almost irreplaceable. We understand that many of our clients who live in older homes want to maintain décor and fixtures that honor the time period when the home was built. In order to accommodate our clients with antique bathtubs, we offer refinishing services that will restore the look of your antique tub.
