January 21, 2012

How do you know when you should repair your bathroom? Don’t wait for everything to fall apart. If you experience any of these signs, call Chris at Striking Image Porcelain Refinishing to help restore your bathroom needs right away.

Things Fall Apart

When your bathroom starts to show extreme wear and tear, you should consider refinishing or repairing. Over time, your shiny, white tub will turn yellow and chipped. Rust and mold can also make your bathing experience a little less sanitary. When things start to go wrong, it’s time for a fix.

You Need a Change

One of the most common reasons for bathroom remodeling is to change up the environment. You may get tired of looking at your same finish and tile, day after day. Chris offers a variety of surfaces and colors that can repair your bathroom bore.

Shampoo Sabotage!

October 24, 2011

What does your bathtub look like right now? Let me guess, shower curtain askew, shampoo bottles on the sides of the tub, a slick bar of soap lurking in the shadows to trip the unsuspecting.

If you never thought to keep your tub organized, here’s some major motivation: leaving shampoo bottles on the sides of the tub or using suction cup shower caddys could damage to the finish. The reason is, water can get trapped beneath the suction cups and bottles and wear down the surface, ruining the finish. This leads to cost of repair, and until then, a dirty, unsightly bathroom.

To inspire you to get de-cluttered, I’ve searched the world wide web to bring the best of the best when it comes to “over the shower head” shower caddys. If any of these come with suction cups, throw the suction cups away! And, after each shower, be sure to wipe the caddy and shower stall dry where the two meet. Read the rest of this entry ?

Protect Your Belongings During Refinishing

April 13, 2011

As with any home improvement project, prep work is necessary to ensure your belongings aren’t harmed. I’m Chris Duty of Striking Image Porcelain Refinishing, and I recommend that my clients remove all personal belongings from the room in which a fixture is being refinished.

While I am refinishing your tub, sink or countertops, I will open windows and use filtered fans to help eliminate the odor from the process. I will line the walls, cabinets, and floors with a static paper that attracts overspray. The filtered fans also draw out overspray. These methods work, so not only will you have a beautifully restored fixture, you won’t even know that I was there.

I advise my clients that a refinished surface need to 48 hours to fully harden.

Upon completion of the project, I will give you instructions for care and cleaning of your refinished sink, tub, or countertop. By following my instructions and avoiding abrasive cleaners, you can enjoy your refinished surface for 10 to 20 years or longer. Refinished surfaces, like porcelain, can chip if you drop something heavy on them, but I also offer chip repair services. Read the rest of this entry ?

Freshen Up Your Bathroom for the Holidays

November 18, 2010

You have family coming next week…or in December…for the holidays. As you’re cleaning your house, you notice that the once white bathroom sink and tub look ancient. They’re dingy, discolored, and scuffed. A new shower curtain and rug just won’t cut it. Your house guests are staying overnight, so they’re going to use the tub. What to do?

Call Striking Image Porcelain Refinishing. I’m Chris Duty, owner and operator of Striking Image, and I’ll be happy to make your bathroom sink and tub look as good as (or better than)  brand new. With porcelain refinishing, in a matter of a few hours work time and about 48 hours drying time, you can have a beautiful new bathroom.

Visit my before-and-after gallery to see for yourself what porcelain refinishing can do!

End Soap Scum & Hard Water Stains in Your Shower

August 23, 2010

Here’s a little tip for those of us (all of us) who hate spotted shower doors. Two things. First, after thoroughly cleaning your shower door, wax it with automobile wax. The wax seals tiny pores in the glass. You can use the same tactic on your wall tile–but don’t ever wax a shower floor. After each shower, squeegie the glass to remove water drops. Most drops will shed right off. The squeegie is just for good measure.

Soap scum is usually caused by talc in body soap. If you want to eliminate soap scum, try using liquid or natural soap instead.

And if your shower needs a facelift, call me! I’m Chris Duty, and my company is Striking Image Porcelain Refinishing. Take a look around this website, then give me a call. I’ll make your shower look brand new.
