Care Instructions for Refinished Surfaces
Follow these instructions to maintain a new look on your refinished surface.
Due to the non-porous surface of the finish, there is no need to use abrasive cleaners on refinished surfaces. All organic coatings must cure. They start to cure at the time of application and will continue for 30 days. Refinished surface can be used 24 hours after the application of the caulking.
- DO NOT leave bar soap or bottles on refinished surfaces; water trapped under these items will damage the surface. I recommend a shower caddy.
- DO NOT let a leaky faucet go un-repaired.
- DO NOT use abrasive cleaners like SOS pads, Comet, Soft Scrub, or Ajax.
- DO NOT use bath mats or pillows that have suction cups.
- DO NOT pick dust from the refinished surface. Any surface dust will dissipate in 3-4 weeks with normal cleaning and use.
- DO NOT use razor blades, scrapers, tape of any kind, paint thinners, or paint strippers on the surface.
- DO NOT allow hard plastic or metal toys, brushes, or other hard items in the tub. Just like a new porcelain or tile surface, a refinished surface can be chipped or scratched if it is abused. I am capable of repairing chips and scratches for a nominal charge.
The best way to keep your refinished surface clean is to wipe it down with a towel after each use. You do not have to wipe it dry. Maintain the caulking around any refinished surface, especially around bathtubs. Good cleaners to use on your refinished surface are:
- Lysol Tub and Tile Foam
- Mr. Clean
- Dow
- Fantastic
- Simple Green
This is only a recommendation! Adding wax to a surface will increase the possibility of slipping.
Wax the surface once every 4 months with a urethane polish (Turtle Wax 2001). You can polish the surface 5 days after it has been refinished.
