Satisfied Customer Testimonials

May 18, 2012

How do you find a porcelain refinisher in DFW? You could start by asking your friends and family members who they recommend. These satisfied customers refer Striking Image Porcelain Refinishing:

“The process was painless. Thanks for being here when you said you would, for being professional, for the thorough clean up, for your attention to detail, for the after-care instructions, and for the beautiful tub.’” –Bob Hayden

“Thank you so much for doing an amazing work on my old, beat-up bath tub. The bathtub you repaired and refinished looks just like new. I mean that it’s shinier than a brand new one. I can’t believe that is the same bath tub I had with two half-dollar sized, rusted holes on it.” –Chae

“Your magic in removing the chemical stains from the stainless steel sink was impressive. In all three locations, it’s like the damage was never there. You do great work!” –Mike McKellop

Easy Ways to Renew your Bathroom

May 11, 2012

While repairing your bathroom is less expensive than renovating it, remodeling your bathroom allows you to change the room’s appearance or adjust to new needs. But redoing your room doesn’t have to be a long, expensive process. In honor of National Home Remodeling Month, Striking Image offers these fun bathroom updates to transform your bathroom in just one day.

  • Refresh the room with paint: Painting is the easiest way to change a room. Give your bathroom a fresh coat of paint to restore its beauty. Since a bathroom is usually smaller than other rooms, it’s a great place to experiment with new ideas, bright colors, and creativity. You can also paint your cabinets, tiles, or floors to complete your redo.
  • Accessorize with color: A new color scheme can make your room look totally different. Replace your towels, rugs, and shower curtain to accompany a new theme. As you update your image, it’s a great time to call Chris to change your countertops, cabinetry, or surface finishes to coordinate with your new color arrangement.

Is your Bathroom Moldy?

May 4, 2012

Your bathroom is a damp and humid environment—which encourages mold growth. Mildew creates an unsanitary bathing experience. If you notice dark spots on your grout or a musty smell in your bathroom, you may have mold. Chris can help minimize fungus in your bathroom.

How does mold form?

Running water, heat, and steam in your bathroom create a moist atmosphere that stimulates mold growth. Mold begins to grow when humidity reaches 60 percent or higher and temperatures rise above 70 degrees Fahrenheit. When mold starts to develop, grime from body oils and soap scums continue to feed the fungus. Additionally, soap and shampoo bottles sitting on wet countertops can trap water, contributing to mold formation.

Protecting Kitchen Sinks and Countertops

April 27, 2012

Your kitchen sinks and countertops are very vulnerable to damage caused by sharp knives, hot grease, and sticky foods. If you’ve damaged your kitchen, Striking Image can repair, refinish, or replace your surfaces to keep them smooth and shiny.

Restoring Surface Burns

Hot pots and pans, crockpots, toaster ovens, waffle irons, and other kitchen appliances generate extreme heat. Placing hot items directly on your counter may burn or melt your surface. To avoid leaving black burn marks on your counter slab, use a trivet to prevent direct contact between your countertop and the hot appliance. If you’ve spilled boiling water on your countertop, wipe it up immediately to prevent the heat from settling into your surface.

How to Make your Bathroom Eco-Friendly

April 20, 2012

Your bathroom uses a lot of energy, electricity, and water. Making a few simple changes will help protect your health, save your environment, and lessen your utility bills. In honor of Earth Day, Striking Image offers a few tips to make your bathroom eco-friendly.

Saving Water

You need water to bathe, but 21 percent of household water usage comes from the shower, while 26 percent comes from the toilet. Try these tips to minimize your water usage:

  1. Low-flow showerheads use half the water than traditional heads. Additionally, regular toilets can use about five to seven gallons of water per flush, while newer, low-flow models only use 1.6 gallons.
  2. Reduce your water usage by taking shorter showers. Additionally, turn off the water when you’re lathering your hair, brushing your teeth, shaving your legs, or scrubbing your body.
  3. A greywater system collects used water from sinks, tubs, and showers and reuses it to irrigate your garden or flush your toilet.

Replacing vs. Repairing your Bathtub

April 13, 2012

If your bathtub is worn or damaged, you may think you need to replace it. However, Chris Duty wants to encourage you to consider a simpler option with less mess and fewer costs. We’re talking about bathtub refinishing.

Replacing your bathtub requires a lot of time and stress. To replace an old bathtub, you must go through a demolition. You have to remove old tile and fixtures, tear out drywall, and arrange for new plumbing. You may be only replacing your tub, but it’s likely that the messy renovation will make your entire bathroom unusable. All this construction can take weeks and provide a huge inconvenience. You’ll not only have to use other bathrooms during this time, but the destruction can also be loud and irritating for your houseguests. Refinishing, however, is much simpler and cleaner. You won’t have to rip out surfaces or throw messy pieces all over your house. In addition, porcelain refinishing can be completed in just a few days. It takes about 48 hours for your surfaces to harden, but after that your bathtub will be ready for use. Chris also uses fans to help reduce the odor from the refinishing process, which helps decrease the discomfort in your home.

Taking Care of Refinished Surfaces

April 6, 2012

After Striking Image refinishes your bathtub, the material needs time to dry. Chris Duty recommends avoiding using your refinished surface for at least 24 hours after the application. Even if it’s been years since your remodel, it’s important to take care of your surfaces to avoid damage. Follow these care instructions to prevent ruining your refinished bathtub or shower.

Keep your surface clean and shiny

Abrasive cleaners are very acidic and can wear away the outer coating on your tub. This will leave a rough surface that can trap dirt and oil. In addition, bleach can discolor a colored porcelain texture. Simple Green, Fantastic, Dow, Mr. Clean, and Lysol Tub and Tile Foam are all approvable cleaners that will leave your tub shiny and smooth.

Avoid using rough scrubbers

When cleaning your tub, avoid using a scrub pad or anything with rough bumps and bristles. Scrubbing your surfaces can scratch the coating and create a coarse texture. Instead, clean your bathtub with a soft rag, and wipe it down with a towel after every use.

How to Make a Small Bathroom Seem Bigger

March 30, 2012

Whether you’re cleaning or grooming, you could probably use more space in your bathroom. You don’t have the time, money, or available space to knock down walls and expand the bathroom. However, with the help of Striking Image, you can make your bathroom look and feel bigger—without actually changing the size. Try following these tips to maximize the space in your bathroom.

Use Light Colors

Light-colored walls and flooring can make a room look more spacious. While you’re at it, refinishing your surfaces can help brighten your bathtub, shower, and sink. In addition, you should stick to clear shower curtains and glass doors so you can see through your tub and avoid blocking out any space. To break up the monotony of white walls, floors, and appliances, try accessorizing the bathroom with bright towels and décor.

Is It Time to Update Your Bathroom?

March 23, 2012

If your bathroom looks messy and worn out, you may leave feeling dirtier than before. Refinishing and repairing your bathroom can make it look new and clean so you’ll feel more refreshed. What’s making your bathroom seem so outdated?

  • Discoloration. Caulk, tile, grout, and other surfaces can discolor over time. The oils from your skin and chemicals from shampoo and soap can also leave prints and stains on the surface of your tub. Stains, discoloration, and rust can make your bathroom look dull, dirty, and unsanitary. Fortunately, Chris Duty can refinish your surfaces to make them white and shiny again.
  • Defects. Chips and scratches will make your bathtub look rough and old. The surface of your tub should be smooth so it doesn’t cut your skin while bathing. Additionally, cracks and dents make your tub look like it’s been abused and worn. Whether you need minor chip repair or total refinishing, Chris can help you!
  • Hardware. Handles, cabinets, faucets, and other décor may need to be polished or updated to give your bathroom a modern look. Chris can help you select the fixtures and hardware that coordinate with the theme of your bathroom.
  • Accessories. If you use the same towels, shower curtain, and wall décor year after year, maybe it’s time for a change. You can switch up your personal bath accessories so you can get a fresh start and feel like your bathroom is new—even if it’s not.
  • Organization. A cluttered countertop can be overwhelming, stressful, and messy. Keeping your items organized will help open up the space and make it look cleaner.

Keeping your bathroom clean and up-to-date will help you feel fresher and more relaxed. Contact Striking Image Porcelain Refinishing at (940) 395-1406 to renew your bathroom. Turning Your Bathroom into a Spa

March 16, 2012

Many people think of a bathroom as simply a place to bathe and wash away dirty germs. However, your bathroom can also be a luxurious place to treat your body. Instead of pampering yourself with expensive spa treatments at the local health club, try these simple tricks to turn your home bathroom into a relaxing spa getaway.

Aromas

The scent of your bathroom can help control your mood. Scented candles, oils, bath salts, and other products can make your bathroom smell amazing and feel refreshing. For the total spa experience, try these popular scents: lavender, jasmine, rose petal, vanilla, tea tree, eucalyptus, cucumber, sea breeze, cotton, and chamomile.

Organization

Spas always look clean and organized. A messy or cluttered bathroom can take away from your relaxing mood. For your spa treatment, hide the toys, tools, and other unnecessary products to open up space on your countertops. To maximize your comfort, make sure your fluffy towels are freshly washed and neatly folded. Clear glass jars filled with flower petals can also make your space look more open and luxurious.
