When Bathtub Repair Works… and When You Need to Refinish

April 20, 2010

With years of experience in porcelain refinishing, Chris provides honest, wise counsel to homeowners. He’s built Striking Image on a reputation of integrity, and it’s proved effective for the business. He certainly doesn’t want a plumber or electrician to give him bad advice in his own home, particularly if he could save money. He’ll treat you with the same respect he wants from contractors. If you think your bathtub, sink, shower, tile, counter top, or appliance may need repair, call Chris today for a free consultation. He’ll come to your house, assess the situation, and explain your options.

For bathtubs

  • chip repair below the water line will not last; you should refinish your bathtub
  • chips on the sides or saddle can usually be repaired and come with a limited warranty
  • scratches, stains, and burns may be removed without refinishing

For sinks

  • kitchen sinks should be replaced unless they are set under tile
  • bathroom sinks do well with refinishing, either in a solid color or fleck stone

For showers & tile

  • chip repair often proves cost effective and durable if the tile color can be matched
  • the floor of a shower should not be refinished or repaired ; it simply will not last

For appliances & counter tops

  • if Chris can match the color, chip repair works well
  • when more than 5 chips exist, consider refinishing

Fiberglass refinishes well, and chip repair is effective.

Cultured marble can be hard to match, so refinishing is preferable.
